New Kaplanoff Librarian for American History and American StudiesGregory Eow has recently joined the Yale University Library as Kaplanoff Librarian for American History and American Studies in the Department of Research Services and Collections at Sterling Memorial Library. Greg comes to Yale from Rice University in Houston, Texas, where he completed his Ph.D. in American History while working as a Government Information Librarian in Rice’s Fondren Library. Previously, Greg worked as the Archivist and Librarian at the DeKalb History Center in the metropolitan Atlanta area. He also holds a library degree from the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Information Sciences.
The Kaplanoff Librarianship for American History and American Studies was generously endowed by the estate of Dr. Mark Kaplanoff (1949-2001), Yale class of 1970. A distinguished lecturer in American History at Cambridge University and a Fellow of Pembroke College, Cambridge, Dr. Kaplanoff was a popular and committed teacher and a respected scholar.
Yale’s holdings in all aspects of Americana are particularly strong in both primary and secondary materials and in a range of formats, with significant resources in the Sterling Memorial Library, the Department of Manuscripts and Archives, the Government Documents and Information Center, and the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library.
