The East Asia Library's Upcoming RenovationsThe East Asian Reading Room, located in Sterling Memorial Library, has been emptied of collections and is ready for the start of construction. Workers will descend the week of August 14 and begin to open up the ceiling outside the Reading Room to install air conditioning ducts.
For those in Sterling Memorial Library who need to access to the East Asia Library collections or services, please keep in mind the following timetable:
August through mid-November
Reference and current periodical collections available in Room 222
Access through the east door of the room (signs will be posted on the second floor)
Limited seating available in Room 221.
Public Services Librarian Tao Yang will be available nearby (in Research Services & Collections space down the hall.)
Mid-November through early January
Reference collection will be returned to its permanent, original location in Room 219.
Current periodicals will be accommodated temporarily in 219 until returning to their new shelves in Room 222 at the end of construction.
If all goes well we will have the main Reading Room space complete and ready to use after fall break.
January
End of construction: we will look forward to introducing our new space to all staff.
