Yale University Library News, Events and Exhibits: Art and Architecture Library June Closure and July Reopening
Art and Architecture Library June Closure and July Reopening Beginning on June 16th, the Arts and Architecture Library, currently located on the first floor of the Art and Architecture Building (180 York Street), will close its doors until July 5th when it will reopen at its temporary swing space location at 270, Crown Street. During the closure, renovations will take place in the Arts and Architecture Building, originally designed by Paul Rudolph, while new construction will begin on the adjoining History of Art Building designed by Charles Gwathmey of Gwathmey and Siegel architects. It is anticipated that the library will remain at its 270 Crown location through September 2008 when completion of the Rudolph renovation and Gwathmey building is expected. Charney Architects of New Haven have transformed what was once the Haskins Lab and, prior to that, a dance hall, into a spacious, lovely library situated between the Salvation Army and the Bar Restaurant on Crown Street. Please direct any questions about this closure to Hannah Bennett (436-8052), Interim Assistant Director, or Christine de Vallet (432-2642), Interim Director.
