Using popular Web search sites such as Yahoo and Google, you can now find and access information in the Yale University Library. Because the Library is making our records available through OpenWorldCat, which is searched by Yahoo and Google, you can now find books, journals and other resources through the search engines you use every day. The Library's goal is to make it easy for our users to find and use our materials. Making our records searchable through Yahoo and Google is one way to do this.

To find Library material, do a search in Yahoo or Google as you normally would do. To narrow the search to items in libraries only, add the phrase Find in a Library When those terms match the title of a library-owned item, the returned search results include a link to the OpenWorldCat Find in a Library interface. You'll see identifying information about the item—usually including a cover image. Enter the ZIP code 06520 and you'll see Yale University and other nearby libraries. Click on Yale University Library and you'll go directly to the Orbis record.

If you are interested in having this ability available to you from any point on the Web you can also install one of several Web browser plug-ins that provide always-there access to Find in a Library results from the WorldCat database:

• Yahoo Toolbar. This special edition of the Yahoo Toolbar lets you Find in a Library and gives you customizable access to the full range of Yahoo services, including browser tools Anti-Spy and Pop-Up Blocker.
• Google Toolbar with Autolink feature. The newest version of Google Toolbar lets you Find in a Library by configuring its Autolink feature.
