Yale University Library News, Events and Exhibits: Kate Contakos's Departure Kate Contakos's Departure

It is with a great deal of sadness that I announce that Kate Contakos will be leaving the Beinecke Library at the end of August. She will be joining her husband in London where he teaches physics and where she will begin graduate studies in Early Modern English Literature at Kings College.

Since starting in July 2007 as the Beinecke Library's first Preservation Librarian, Kate has made great strides in improving the Beinecke's preservation activities. This included managing what is coming and going for conservation treatment, overseeing microfilming and audio/video reformatting, and improving preservation procedures for loans and exhibits. This past summer she also completed an inventory of the Beinecke's audio/visual material, which will greatly assist a future preservation survey of this material. In everything she did, Kate brought energy and charm. Of course now we now have a built in excuse to visit London.

Kate's last official day is the 29th of August, but her last day at work will be the 22nd.
