If you are going to take a laptop to a conference or on business travel you must log into your machine on the yale network with your netID and password at least once.

If you do not do this, you will not be able to log into the machine when it is off the network. Alternatively, you can have your expert user add a local administrator account to access the machine while away.

Please make sure that all applications you indend to use work in the account that you log into

If you intend to use high speed internet access while away, make sure that the computer is correctly configured to use a non-yale network, by having DHCP enabled. Check with your expert user to make sure this is the case.
